A direct gaze toward the camera. The Paire 029 Keepsake Box brings a moment of shared presence into everyday life, reproducing a restored, colorized historical portrait on a glossy ceramic tile lid. The image’s appeal lies in its simplicity: two men pictured side by side, with their heads touching and little space between them. On a box intended for personal treasures, that preserved closeness feels especially fitting.

The supplied photograph record estimates the portrait to circa 1940–1950. One man wears a pale neckerchief over darker clothing and has a fine mustache; the other wears a light, open-collar shirt. A curtain forms the backdrop, its vertical folds setting off their softly rendered faces and dark, waved hair. Both look toward the camera. The close crop draws attention to their expressions and the small differences in posture that make the portrait feel individual and immediate.

Part of Walt & Pete®’s Keepsake Boxes collection, Paire 029 offers a way to give historical images a place in contemporary queer homes. Presented within LGBTQ+ visual culture, the portrait invites reflection on companionship, visibility, and the importance of being pictured together. The men’s identities and relationship remain undocumented. What survives is their shared presence—a meaningful image for people who value the photographs, objects, and memories through which belonging takes shape.

The varnished rubberwood box provides felt-lined storage for jewelry and small personal mementos. Its glossy finish and ceramic image tile make it an appealing accent for a dresser, bedside table, or shelf. Dual hinges hold the lid securely at 90 degrees when open, while a slip-resistant felt base helps prevent sliding. Available in three color options, it is a thoughtful anniversary, birthday, or chosen-family gift: a place for the things you keep close, with an image of two people close together.

Why You’ll Love It

A distinctive vintage double portrait with close framing and direct gazes.

Meaningful photographic storytelling for LGBTQ+ homes and collectors.

Soft felt-lined storage for jewelry and small personal keepsakes.

Varnished rubberwood construction with a glossy ceramic image tile.

A thoughtful gift for a partner, friend, or member of your chosen family.

Product Features

High-quality varnished rubberwood construction.

Glossy finish available in three color options.

Slip-resistant felt base helps prevent sliding.

Dual hinges hold the lid securely at a 90-degree angle.

Soft felt-lined interior.

Glossy sublimation ceramic tile lid featuring the reproduced photograph.

Ceramic lid tile: 6 × 6 inches.

Photograph & Archival Note

Title: Close Double Portrait in Photobooth Setting
Estimated Date: Circa 1940–1950, according to the supplied record
Photographer / Location: Not documented

Walt & Pete® presents this image within a broader context of LGBTQ+ history, memory, and visual culture, without assigning undocumented identities or relationships to the men pictured.
