Their opposing stances create a compact center beneath the bold geometry of stars and stripes. Part of Walt & Pete®’s LGBTQ+ heritage jigsaw puzzle collection, this historical photograph invites a queer perspective on masculinity, embodiment, and the athletic spaces preserved in the photographic record.

Titled Two Men Sparring Beneath a Forty-Eight-Star Flag and estimated to date to circa 1917–1925, the image brings together period clothing, leather footwear, and boxing equipment in a closely observed interior. The creases of the olive fabric, rounded gloves, floorboards, and flag create layers of visual detail. Although the garments suggest a structured training environment, the participants’ identities, affiliation, and precise maneuver remain unknown.

For LGBTQ+ viewers drawn to vintage sporting imagery, the photograph opens a conversation about the ways strength, discipline, and masculine presence are pictured. Walt & Pete® curates the scene through a queer historical lens, connecting it with contemporary interests in belonging and cultural memory while respecting the limits of the surviving information. The athletic interaction is visible; the men’s personal lives remain their own, beyond what the photograph can establish.

As you assemble the puzzle, the flag’s stripes and star field offer recognizable landmarks, while wood grain, glove contours, and garment folds invite a slower look. Enjoy a focused afternoon on your own or share time with a partner, friends, or chosen family. A thoughtful gift for queer heritage enthusiasts, boxing fans, and historical photography collectors, this puzzle makes space for discovery and conversation.

Walt & Pete® — Forgotten Moments, Forever Remembered.

Why you’ll love it

A distinctive boxing scene beneath a prominent historical American flag.

Olive training clothing, padded gloves, and leather footwear with period character.

Flag patterns, wooden boards, and fabric folds that reward close observation.

Curated through an LGBTQ+ historical lens, inviting reflection on masculinity and athletic interaction.

Meaningful gifting for LGBTQ+ loved ones, boxing enthusiasts, and vintage sports collectors.

Product Features

Premium chipboard puzzle construction

High-resolution archival image reproduction

Vibrant color printing

Precision-cut pieces

Available in multiple piece counts

Collectible gift-ready presentation

EU representative: HONSON VENTURES LIMITED, gpsr@honsonventures.com, 3, Gnaftis House flat 102, Limassol, Mesa Geitonia, 4003, CY

Product information: Generic brand, 2 year warranty in EU and Northern Ireland as per Directive 1999/44/EC

Care instructions: Wipe the dirt or dust off gently with a clean, dry microfiber cloth.
