At Walt & Pete®, our mission is to preserve, restore, and celebrate historical imagery, with particular attention to overlooked moments in LGBTQ+ history, companionship, and cultural heritage.

### Our Historical Photograph Archive

The Walt & Pete historical photograph archive includes digital images independently collected from online communities, historical resources, and other sources over many years, with collecting activity dating to 1998.

Our archival work includes historical research, digital restoration, colorization, and the preparation of selected images for fine-art reproduction.

### Copyright and Historical Images

Walt & Pete recognizes that ownership of a physical photograph, possession of a digital reproduction, and ownership of copyright are legally distinct.

Some historical photographs may be in the public domain, while others may remain subject to copyright protection. Copyright status depends on factors including authorship, publication history, applicable law, and the passage of time.

Walt & Pete does not claim exclusive ownership of underlying historical photographs solely because they have been collected, digitally restored, colorized, or reproduced.

Any rights in original creative contributions made by Walt & Pete are separate from rights in the underlying historical materials.

### Attribution and Provenance

We strive to identify photographers, approximate dates, historical settings, and original sources wherever reliable information is available.

Many surviving vernacular photographs have incomplete or unknown provenance. When attribution or historical details cannot be verified, we endeavor to identify that uncertainty rather than present speculation as fact.

Walt & Pete respects the legitimate intellectual-property rights of photographers, artists, estates, archives, and other rights holders.
