Inspired by Iowa City's legendary 620 Dance Club, this Walt & Pete® design reimagines a forgotten cassette J-card as though it had been tucked inside a mixtape case since the mid-1980s. Featuring a softly blurred archival dance floor photograph, period-inspired typography, and the club's historic address, the artwork captures the atmosphere of a night that still feels just within reach.

Rather than creating a traditional souvenir graphic, 620 Sessions • Volume One was designed as a recovered piece of nightlife ephemera—something that could have been handed out by a DJ, slipped into a cassette case after closing, and rediscovered decades later. The subtle folds, offset-print textures, worn paper, and restrained color palette evoke the look of an authentic artifact preserved from one of Iowa's most important LGBTQ gathering places.

Founded in 1973, 620 became more than a dance club. For generations of LGBTQ people and their friends, it was a place to celebrate, build community, and experience the freedom to be themselves during a time when safe public spaces were often difficult to find. Every detail of this design honors that legacy while preserving the visual language of the era that defined the club's most iconic years.
