Paire 078 | Photobooth Series | Here Beside You  Keepsake Box

An arm around the shoulders can make a small photograph feel full of meaning. The Paire 078 Here Beside You Keepsake Box reproduces a restored, colorized vintage portrait of two sailors on a glossy ceramic tile lid. Closely framed in white caps and dark uniforms, the men share the image with a gesture of physical closeness that gives it a distinct personal presence. On a box for treasured objects, that simple detail becomes a fitting reminder of the people we keep near.

The supplied photograph record estimates the image to circa 1942–1946. Striped sailor collars stand out against dark fabric, while the pale caps and background frame the men’s faces. One figure is cropped closely at the left edge; the other occupies the center-right, with a hand resting over his shoulder at the outer edge. Their different gazes and the asymmetrical arrangement give the portrait its character. Digital restoration and colorization present the historical image in color while retaining softly rendered photographic detail.

Within Walt & Pete®’s Keepsake Boxes collection, Here Beside You invites a connection between a preserved gesture and contemporary queer life. For LGBTQ+ customers, images of men pictured together with physical ease can hold personal resonance: companionship made visible, given a place in the home. The sailors’ identities and relationship remain undocumented. The title expresses the sentiment the image may evoke today—a thoughtful way to acknowledge someone whose presence matters.

Varnished rubberwood construction and a soft felt-lined interior provide storage for jewelry and small mementos. The glossy ceramic image tile makes the box a distinctive accent for a dresser, bedside table, or shelf. Dual hinges hold the lid at 90 degrees when open, and a slip-resistant felt base helps prevent sliding. Available in three color options, it is a meaningful anniversary, birthday, or chosen-family gift: a place for the little things that remind you of someone beside you.
