Lord Byron (1788–1824)

Lord Byron, also known as George Gordon Byron (1788–1824), was a prominent English poet and a leading figure in the Romantic movement. Byron's personal life, including his sexuality, has been the subject of historical speculation and discussion. While the term "queer" might not be directly applicable to historical figures, some aspects of Byron's relationships and lifestyle suggest a departure from conventional norms of his time.

"Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves." - Lord Byron

Byron had both romantic and physical relationships with men and women. His most notable same-sex relationship was with his close friend John Edleston, whom he met while studying at Cambridge. Byron's poems, such as "Childe Harold's Pilgrimage" and "Don Juan," often explore themes of love and desire, and some scholars have interpreted these works as expressing his complex sexuality.
