The Meaning of the Baobab Wreath

The African baobab, Adansonia digitata, provides the botanical inspiration for this artwork. Its native range includes Mali, grounding the design in the country’s plant life.

Within this design, substantial branches represent continuity—the experiences and relationships that support us over time. Finger-like leaflets radiating from a shared point suggest individual stories connected through community.

Pale blossoms express renewal, while hanging fruit symbolizes the possibility of carrying something valuable into the future. Together, these elements evoke memory as a living source of growth.

Two branches cross at the base and sweep outward and upward into an open ceremonial crown. Here, the laurel form expresses honor and dignity, recognizing lives and experiences that deserve to be remembered.

The Pride Colors

Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet appear across selected leaflets and botanical details. Natural green foliage, creamy blossoms, warm branches, and ochre fruit anchor the palette.
