The Meaning of Cempasúchil

Cempasúchil is closely associated with Mexico’s Día de Muertos. The flowers adorn ofrendas, while paths of their petals are traditionally laid to guide loved ones toward the altar. Their vivid color brings warmth to an occasion centered on remembrance and enduring connection.

In this design, branching stems carry the golden flowers across the bag instead of enclosing them in a wreath. Small touches of rose, violet, indigo and teal appear among the blooms and foliage.
