Paire 159 | Vintage Photobooth Series | Two Sailors in a Playful Embrace Keepsake Box

A glance, a smile, a playful pose: the PAIRE 159 Vintage Photobooth Keepsake Box from Walt & Pete® transforms an expressive historical photograph into an everyday home accessory. The image appears on a glossy ceramic tile set into the lid of a contemporary wooden keepsake box, inviting the owner to keep personal treasures beneath a moment preserved from another generation.

In this closely framed photobooth portrait, two young men wear white sailor caps and light-colored uniform tops with dark neckerchiefs. The man at left looks toward the camera with a gentle smile; his companion presses close, lips pursed in an exaggerated, playful gesture. Arms drape across one another’s shoulders. A striped curtain forms the background, and the narrow vertical composition places their faces at the center of the photograph. Their names, the date, and the circumstances of the sitting are not documented.

The image’s visible ease and playful physical closeness resonate with Walt & Pete®’s exploration of companionship, memory, and LGBTQ+ visual culture. It offers a place for queer viewers, partners, friends, and chosen families to see the importance of everyday connection without asserting that the two photographed men shared any particular relationship or identity. Photobooth photographs are especially compelling in this context: they preserve gestures and expressions that formal portraits might never have recorded.

The keepsake box is crafted from varnished rubberwood with a glossy finish offered in three color options. Inside, soft felt lining provides a place for jewelry and small mementos; a slip-resistant felt base helps prevent sliding. Dual hinges hold the lid securely open at a 90-degree angle, and the 6 × 6-inch glossy sublimation ceramic tile carries the reproduced portrait. On a dresser, bedside table, or shelf, PAIRE 159 makes a thoughtful gift for a partner, friend, or chosen family member—and a reminder that ordinary moments deserve to be remembered.
